"Science Team has reported to have found a way to harness troops with Phazon- safely. We're quite proud.
"The troops currently outfitted with the tech have reported that it acts as an appetite suppressant and helps keep adrenaline down to allow clearer thinking in combat situations. Some claim that it helps them stay awake longer.
"This means, sirs, we can save resources and keep troops working for longer hours on lesser rations. They'll still be effective warriors. The commanders have consented.
"Actually, one more thing should be mentioned. The Hunter has been spotted on Bryyo by some of the troops. She's killed some and taken out a commando or two, but casualties are not serious. She seems to be headed for the seed, unfortunately.
"Which is why we'd like permission to outfit the remainder of the troops with the Phazon enhancement systems."
The six High Commanders shared looks before turning back to the speaker. "We will consider it."

The clocks said it was evening, but it was impossible to tell with the planet's atmosphere so polluted. High Command stood and discussed the situation.
Of the six, one was the Chancellor. No one but High Command knew which of them it was, which would have made assassination attempts that much harder for the Galactic Federation.
"The troops could get hurt. If there's even one flaw Science Team hasn't found, it could decimate them all." One of the six said. He was elderly, going on his two hundredth year or so.
"Then let them die! Commanders and their commandos will wait until the perfected version comes out so we can lose as many troops as we need to the Phazon." Said another. "You always want to save them."
The first one took a step forward and pointed a claw that was smoothed with age as the second. "A hundred and fifty years ago, slime, we cared about our troops."
They swore at one another for a minute until the Chancellor pushed them apart. She was the youngest of them all. She was the exact age of The Hunter. She understood the enemy- all three of her parents had been killed by humans. She was tall and strong.
"How about you two stop shouting!" She hissed, pulling apart the four sections that made up her face. A show of dominance that the others respected and feared.
"And, how about, you listen to what they have to say for a bit, eh?" She gestured to the remaining three High Commanders who had been standing aside. Among them were two males and a female. The Chancellor nodded at them to speak.
The female spoke first and said, "I have faith in Science Team. They would not come to us unless they were sure of themselves. They remember last time."
The group shared a dry laugh, remembering when Science Team had tried to replicate the Hunter's morph ball and failed miserably. Many of them had been put to death for the failure.
"I think we should wait and understand what the Hunter is up to, first, said one of the other High Commanders. The male next to him nodded quietly.
The Chancellor waited for a moment, and looked to them all.
"We outfit half the troops with the Phazon. The other half goes after the Hunter."

The scientist waited outside. He fidgeted nervously with a bit of exoskeleton that was flaking off to show the shiny blue color that would only last for a month or so.
We wondered for a moment which of the six was the Chancellor, the one calling the shots in the back room and taking the advice of the others. He thought it would probably be the oldest one, because he always did all the talking.
Indeed, when High Command returned to tell thin their decision, it was the elder that informed the scientist, who left as fast as he could to get back to science team.
Outside of the High Command, he made it a few steps before the Security Chief Ridley landed in front of him.
The Norfairian perched back on his hind legs and said, "I've heard you're making suits to harness Phazon."
"Yes, sir," Said the scientist. He saluted, but his nervousness in the presence of the massive ebony predator must have shown because the Security Chief laughed. It was a grating sound that made the scientist want to scream and run.
"I want one," said Ridley.
The scientist said, "High Command said-"
Ridley's tail swished through the air, making a noise like a bullwhip.
"We'll get right on it," The scientist spoke with a forced smile.
The Norfairian smirked. "I'll be over at Science Pavilion tomorrow for my fitting and surgery tomorrow, shall I?"
The scientist nodded.
As soon as Ridley was gone, he sprinted back to Science Pavilion.
I'll probably write more later.

The thing about the morph ball is in a pirate log in Metroid Prime, but the Pirates only start using Phazon in Corruption.

The bit about Pirates having three parents is entirely of my own design, as is the idea of the high command having a chancellor.

I leave them nameless because I don't think I could express the noises they make in the video games with the roman alphabet, though I swear that at least once I've heard them say something that sounds a lot like "Damn."
