Oh, wait, I need a name

You may or may not be aware that I've got a Steampunk costume that's been in the works for a while now. Originally it was just going to be for Halloween, but I'm considering wearing it to PAX as well...

ANYWAY

I can't just be me in a steampunk costume so I need a name. The character is some kind of mechanic or worker; the costume is a bit vague. Names...?

UPDATE: I've decided she's a time/dimension traveler (fitting in with Alison's Time Travel Challenge), which is good enough for me.

If it's steampunk it should be a kind of old-fashioned name...what was that era again? Unless your time-traveler is from a time other than steampunk, and just picked it up along the way.
How about...Samantha? She could be Sammy for short.

Victorian.
1837 to ~1900.

I like Samantha. I'm gonna go with that.

Woohoo!
I should have remembered that. for some reason I have split concepts of the victorian era: one half the extremely restricting and rigid society, as well as "dynamite archaeology" and blandly stated racism; the other half being the "feel" of the era with the dress and colors and names. I despise the first half with a passion (a lot of history was destroyed or rewritten because it didn't fit the romantic ideas of the time), but the latter half is kind of charming.

Steampunk is a focus of the technology of the era mixed with the romanticism of the times while throwing away most of the societal things except a general politeness.
Basically, keep the good and ignore the bad.
